Why do some studios have dark photos?

You’ve done all your research, and you considered 360Booth® as a solution. During your research, you came across one of my studios. We have nearly 800. I’m sure you came and found one, and you said, “Man, those photos suck!”

That doesn’t mean 360Booth® sucks. It really doesn’t mean anybody sucks. Let’s be honest. If you want to blame anybody, blame me. I trained them when we delivered the studio. I offer free training for me to visit after the fact. They didn’t take us up. Maybe it’s a two-year-old studio, and they didn’t go with the camera we recommended, and they’re on to some phone app that doesn’t allow the photographer to adjust the light levels.

Let me show you how easy this is. Here I have a camera. I’m going to turn it on, and I’m going to point it to the booth. In my opinion, I think that photo is kind of dingy, and any time you pull digital photos up, that’s what it looks like. However, if you have the right solution and the right team behind you, you simply turn a dial to make it brighter, and the photo is incredibly bright. Check it out.

So, to answer your question, why are their photos dark in a 360Booth®? They didn’t take the time to give us a call to correct it. Blame me. Maybe they didn’t answer our emails for follow up.

Spot one out. Let me call them. Let me get them back on track. Let’s have a little commitment to community, to help one another out.

FAQ

Why are photos from some 360Booth® studios dark?

Usually because of the camera, not the studio: a phone app that can’t adjust light levels, a camera other than the one recommended, or staff who haven’t been retrained.

How do you fix dark studio photos?

Use a camera that lets you adjust exposure and brighten the image. 360Booth offers free retraining, so call them to get the photographer back on track.

How tall is it?

You’re doing your research. You came across 360Booth®, and you want some dimensions. First of all, hit us up. Click on “More Information,” and I’ll send you all the pricing, any options. I’ll also send you minimum space requirements. Remember, 30 feet of depth as the vehicle drives into the space is the absolute minimum. The space should be two feet larger than the studio size you select. Remember, I’ll visit, and I’ll measure everything. There is no pressure to buy when I visit, but back to your question.

How tall is the 360Booth®? Our structure, from the concrete to the top, is ten feet. Maybe with the wheels and the track, depending upon if we have to level it, it is ten feet, five inches. We need a minimum of 11 feet of height, so when we dangle our electricity in our 360 device, it allows the booth to spin. Remember, we’ll adjust the height of the studio at no cost to you.

But! To give you an idea of height, I’m 6’5”. My reach is 8’3”. The opening of the studio is at nine feet. The top of the cloth is at ten feet.

Remember, just contact us. I’ll send you a schematic.

How much room do I need to install 360Booth® at my dealership?

How much space do you really need for a 360Booth®? It’s a great question, the most asked question. Quite honestly, if space wasn’t an issue, we’d have 10,000 installed by now, but, to answer your question:

Simply fill out the “More Information” form or email to this video, and I’ll send you a schematic with three different-sized studios. Remember, 24, 26, 28–we’ll make them bigger or smaller at no extra price to you. We’ll make them shorter but no taller than ten feet.

But to answer your question “how much space,” I need a minimum of 30 feet as the vehicle drives in. I need your photographer to stand back so you make sure your car’s photos aren't in a fishbowl. There is nothing worse than looking at those distorted, ugly photos. Thirty feet is the minimum of the length. The width needs to be two feet larger than the studio. Honestly, sometimes we have them six inches from the wall.

Remember, don’t waste your time thinking about it. If you’re serious, give me a call at no obligation and no cost to you. I fly in and totally evaluate your space. We really talk about process–that’s number one–but for the space, I bring floor leveling lasers. That’s critical. I bring a laser for distance. I mark the spot, so if you choose to move forward after the fact, my installer knows exactly where to put it in.

So, how much space do you need? Minimum 30 feet of length, two feet larger than the size of the studio you pick. Contact us and I’ll send you schematics.

FAQ

How much space do I need for a 360Booth?

Plan on a minimum of 30 feet of length as the vehicle drives in, and a width about two feet larger than the studio you choose.

Why does the space need 30 feet of length?

The photographer needs room to stand back from the car. Shooting too close distorts the vehicle and gives a fishbowl look in the photos.

What studio sizes are available?

The standard studios are 24, 26 and 28 feet. 360Booth says it can build them bigger or smaller at no extra price, and shorter, but no taller than ten feet.

Will someone evaluate my space?

Yes. 360Booth visits at no cost or obligation to evaluate the space, using lasers for floor level and distance, and marks the spot so the installer knows where the studio goes.

If have in floor heating will your concrete screws ruin that?

So you’re considering 360Booth®, and you’re in Canada, somewhere where it’s very cold, and you love in-ground floor heating.

Yes, if we put one of our screws into your concrete, there is a ten percent chance that we’re going to hit that. Therefore, we don’t install studios on radiant heat unless you give us the average depth of where those pipes might be (your contractor will provide that), and you have the space radared so we know where the grid patterns are.

Yes, five years ago, we did hit one. We didn’t know to ask, quite honestly. But now we have many emails and, many documents that ask you multiple times about in-floor heating.

So, to answer your question: We can install 360Booth® with in-floor heating, yes. No problem. Just an extra step or two.

FAQ

Can a 360Booth® be installed over radiant floor heating?

Yes, with an extra step or two.

What does 360Booth need from me?

The average depth of the heating pipes, which your contractor can provide, and a radar scan with the grid pattern marked on the floor.

Can 360Booth® be installed outside?

Can 360Booth® be installed outside? I don’t recommend it.

First of all, you have a cloth. If it gets wet, your cloths will be stained. The plastic will not be affected; the lights are waterproof and drop proof. Everything is powder-coated steel. So, in theory, you could, but I believe the number one reason why you’re looking at a studio is to increase your sales. Our customers are saying they’re going up 20, 25, 30%, with higher grosses, and selling more cars out of state than ever before.

So, my question to you is “why the hell would you want to put it outside?”

I know the answer. Space. If space wasn’t the issue here at 360Booth®, we’d have 10,000 in the ground. I know you’re limited on space, but if you want to grow your business, you have to put in the effort. We need to go indoors.

Here’s the good news. I travel to your space for free, your dealership for free, literally for free. The owner, the designer, the developer travels to your dealership for free. I bring lasers. I’ll measure your space. Let me come in and evaluate whether you have the space. I know you do. You just don’t want to give it up, but let me evaluate your store before you make a decision to not go with us or to build a building.

We do nothing but new construction now, like, 70% of our business is new construction. Give me a shot. Spend my money for free! Let me come see you!

FAQ

Can a 360Booth® be installed outside?

360Booth doesn’t recommend it. The plastic, waterproof lights and powder-coated steel can handle it, but the cloth top will stain when wet.

What if I don't have space inside?

Jay Smithweck will visit your dealership for free, measure with lasers and help find a suitable indoor space before you consider outdoor options or a new building.

Why do I install 360Booth® inside?

Can 360Booth® be installed outdoors, and why not?

Honestly, nothing will happen to it. A gust of wind will push it off its track. The cloth top will get stained, but the number one reason you don’t want to go outside is that you need to increase your sales.

That’s why you’re here. You’re trying to increase your sales. You want to go indoors so you can shoot 24/7. If you don’t have the stomach to put in the process, to make sure all your cars are online 24/7, and shoot day or night indoors, putting it outside just makes the process harder.

So, no. 360Booth® does not go outside. You want it inside so you have 100% of your inventory online–new and used cars, fresh trades–online 24/7, not on Friday before the weekend– 24/7.

FAQ

Why should a 360Booth® be installed indoors?

Indoors you can shoot day or night in any weather, so new cars, used cars and fresh trades get online consistently. Outdoors, wind can push the studio off its track and the cloth top can stain.

Will installing it outside make the process harder?

Yes. 360Booth’s view is that an outdoor setup undermines the reason for having a studio: a consistent, all-weather photo process.
