You’re doing your research. You came across 360Booth®, and you want some dimensions. First of all, hit us up. Click on “More Information,” and I’ll send you all the pricing, any options. I’ll also send you minimum space requirements. Remember, 30 feet of depth as the vehicle drives into the space is the absolute minimum. The space should be two feet larger than the studio size you select. Remember, I’ll visit, and I’ll measure everything. There is no pressure to buy when I visit, but back to your question.
How tall is the 360Booth®? Our structure, from the concrete to the top, is ten feet. Maybe with the wheels and the track, depending upon if we have to level it, it is ten feet, five inches. We need a minimum of 11 feet of height, so when we dangle our electricity in our 360 device, it allows the booth to spin. Remember, we’ll adjust the height of the studio at no cost to you.
But! To give you an idea of height, I’m 6’5”. My reach is 8’3”. The opening of the studio is at nine feet. The top of the cloth is at ten feet.

You’ve done all your research, and you considered 360Booth® as a solution. During your research, you came across one of my studios. We have nearly 800. I’m sure you came and found one, and you said, “Man, those photos suck!”
That doesn’t mean 360Booth® sucks. It really doesn’t mean anybody sucks. Let’s be honest. If you want to blame anybody, blame me. I trained them when we delivered the studio. I offer free training for me to visit after the fact. They didn’t take us up. Maybe it’s a two-year-old studio, and they didn’t go with the camera we recommended, and they’re on to some phone app that doesn’t allow the photographer to adjust the light levels.
Let me show you how easy this is. Here I have a camera. I’m going to turn it on, and I’m going to point it to the booth. In my opinion, I think that photo is kind of dingy, and any time you pull digital photos up, that’s what it looks like. However, if you have the right solution and the right team behind you, you simply turn a dial to make it brighter, and the photo is incredibly bright. Check it out.
So, to answer your question, why are their photos dark in a 360Booth®? They didn’t take the time to give us a call to correct it. Blame me. Maybe they didn’t answer our emails for follow up.

Why are photos from some 360Booth® studios dark?
Usually because of the camera, not the studio: a phone app that can’t adjust light levels, a camera other than the one recommended, or staff who haven’t been retrained.
How do you fix dark studio photos?
Use a camera that lets you adjust exposure and brighten the image. 360Booth offers free retraining, so call them to get the photographer back on track.

So, here’s my camera. It’s outdated. You can’t buy it any more, but the one dial I want to show you is this dial right there. Right here. You’re able to turn it and make it bright or dark.
Let me show you this up close. Here’s the key. Whenever the camera sees the studio, it gets really dark. By turning the dial at the top, I can make my photos bright or dark. When you go to auto mode, it’s too dark and dingy. You have to simply just increase the volume, take your picture, and look at that picture. It’s that simple.

Why are my 360Booth® photos coming out dark?
On auto mode, many cameras underexpose in a bright white studio, so images look dark and dingy.
How do I brighten them?
Turn up the exposure (brightness) setting on the camera before shooting. If you need help, a quick call with 360Booth can get your photographer back on track.
Let’s talk about professional photography. There are tons of guys out there claiming to be professional photographers. That’s great news. All of them want to turn our cloth top into a softbox. They’re over-engineering it.
I’m not a fan of the softbox. One, you don’t have a trained photographer to shoot in that environment. Two, it’s a very filtered light and makes your cars look fake. That’s the worst thing you can do in an environment–to let your customers think they’re using a file photo. Our solution has very bright, very cool LED lights–cool in temperature. We have a domed, engineered diffuser over the top of them that filter out the light so that it doesn’t create shadows. It doesn’t create a softbox environment.
Can you turn this into a softbox? Hey, it’s your studio. Do as you may. Would I recommend it? No.

No. 360Booth uses bright, cool-temperature LED lights with domed, engineered diffusers that reduce shadows without creating a softbox environment.
Why doesn't 360Booth recommend a softbox?
Jay Smithweck says heavily filtered softbox light can make cars look fake, like stock photos, and it takes a trained photographer to shoot well in that environment.
Sure you can! I don’t recommend it. The number one reasons are heat and fire. You’re going to be having somebody that doesn’t know how to shoot in a strobe light environment, and they’re going to shoot 40 photos–that’s 40 flashes–in five to six minutes. Strobe lights–that’s a lot of abuse, and when they go, they actually go because of heat, and they fuse to the assembly so now you have the risk of fire. The strobe has failed. Your studio is shut down while you have to order a new strobe light.
So, to answer your question, you can add a strobe absolutely to our studio. We have a dealer group in Minnesota that does a great job with strobes, but they have a professional photographer training their staff. They have five or six of our studios, and every one of them has strobes. They have a strobe above the cloth. They have strobes mounted into the overhang.
I don’t recommend it. It’s too difficult. The light is too soft. Look at photos shot in a soft light environment. They look fake. That’s exactly what strobes will do.
To answer your question, I don’t recommend strobes, but hey, this is your studio. Do anything you want.

Can I use strobe lights in a 360Booth®?
Yes, it’s your studio, but 360Booth doesn’t recommend it.
Why doesn't 360Booth recommend strobes?
A typical shoot means dozens of flashes in a few minutes, which creates heat and failure risk, and a failed strobe can shut the studio down until it’s replaced. Strobes also produce soft light that can make cars look fake, and they work best with a trained professional photographer.
Great news to you, there are no motors. We wanted a product and a studio that stood the test of time. Motors fail. Electronics fail, let’s be honest. In your back area where the booth is, it’s abused by personnel. It’s abused by moisture and rust. You don’t want motors. Not only that, but turntables also take almost two minutes to turn around. I could have shot and been sitting in the car in about 40 seconds after I was done shooting cars on the exterior. You don’t want motors.
So, to answer your question, where are the motors on 360Booth®? There are none. It’s just a simple wheel.

Here’s an extreme closeup of our wheel. We have wheel boxes. Now, just so you know, there are wheel boxes on your Studio that don’t contain wheels. The reason for that is the more wheels, the more resistance, the more friction, the harder it is to push. So, there are no motors on 360Booth®.

Does the 360Booth® have motors?
No. The studio rolls on simple wheels on a track, so there are no motors or electronics to fail in a shop environment exposed to moisture and heavy use.
Why do some wheel boxes have no wheels?
More wheels means more friction and a harder push, so 360Booth uses only as many wheels as needed.
I wouldn’t advise unpacking your studio from the truck because you don’t have a forklift. The main reason is the plastic. It’s very dense. It’s very durable, but, because of length and the width of it, it’s hard to manhandle, and you’re going to scratch it. I would seriously advise getting a forklift. If you don’t have one, borrow one. If you can’t borrow one, rent one. The ease of getting it off the back of the semi-truck with a forklift is day and night compared to taking all the steel off the pallet and then twenty-something panels of plastic, including supplies.
So, to answer your question, I wouldn’t advise unpacking your pallet piece by piece at all! If you damage a plastic panel, it’s going on your booth, damaged.

Can I unload my 360Booth® piece by piece without a forklift?
360Booth advises against it. The large plastic panels are hard to handle and easy to scratch, and a damaged panel will end up on your studio.
What should I do if I don't have a forklift?
Borrow or rent one. Unloading the pallet with a forklift is far easier than removing the steel and twenty-plus plastic panels by hand.
